Hello folks who wonder if pet cats should receive an Emmy award every year for their part in outstanding drama series,
What does being catty mean?
Being catty can imply remarks or actions that are veiled, subtle, or delivered behind someone's back. Let's read this short story and see an example of catty behavior.
Jessica posted on Instagram about completing a 10k run, feeling proud of her accomplishment. A comment popped up from a distant acquaintance, Chloe posted "Oh wow, a 10k! Seriously impressive, Jessica. Must be amazing to have the time for hobbies. Some of us are just, you know, juggling actual responsibilities. But hey, good for you!"
Another example of catty behavior can imply spreading gossip and can be demonstrated by this short story.
Sarah and Emily were chatting in the break room when Sarah leaned in conspiratorially. "Did you hear about Mark from accounting?" she whispered. "Apparently, he called in sick again yesterday, but someone saw him at the mall! And," she lowered her voice even further, "I heard from someone in HR that this isn't the first time. People are saying he's been taking advantage of sick days for months!" Emily, who barely knew Mark, listened with wide eyes, now forming a negative impression of him based on Sarah's secondhand gossip.
I don't know what you take away from those examples but for me Chloe and Sarah are really fun people that I would want to hang out with.
You could say "catty behavior," at its most basic, is simply what cats do.
The number of stray cats in India seemed to explode during my last trip. This is likely because people are easily charmed by their "innocent faces" and end up feeding them.
One of the highlights of observing the cats was seeing a mother cat with her kittens. I often noticed the mother cat grooming her babies by licking them. This common behavior is more than just cleaning; it's essential for bonding. The licking establishes a strong connection through scent marking, helps detect if they took a shower today, and if not, it keeps the kittens clean as they grow. In addition, it stimulates healthy circulation, and allows the mother to closely monitor their development.
Raising those two troublemakers is exhausting, and I often saw the mom sneak in a nap while the babies were feeding.
The kittens were very cautious around people and would run away whenever I got closer. Apparently, their mother didn't teach them the saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover." So much for her winning any "Mother of the Year" awards.
That's it for this post. In the next post we will explore how I became a true swiftie.
I'll leave you with these puppies, sleeping soundly and utterly oblivious to any Taylor Swift concert schedule.
